Not only is our friend Jon Lord doing us the honor of officially opening the KeyTech Hammond Lab, he graced the keys of the New B-3 with his magical hands during his recent tour of Russia.
You can see some video footage during his performance on the New B-3 here on Jon's web site
Logistically this was quite an effort and special thanks must go to Mr Yu Beniya of Hammond Organ HQ in Japan and Mr Valeriy Gulevich the Hammond Organ agent for Russia for liaising with us to make this happen.
Jon was suitably impressed with the new B-3 and Leslie 3300 and I am meeting up with him shortly after the Music Tech School Ceremony hopefully before Christmas to go through the full benefits of the New Generation Hammond Organs and how they could fit in with his future projects and live performances.

Poland - Finland and UK latest
I have been very busy since the last newsletter with HamLab activities Hammond Organ UK promotions and also gigs in the UK, Poland and Finland.
Hammond Organs in general seem to be the 'in Thing' for live performance as well as 'Home Hammond Groovers'
This is great for performing musicians and just like in the old days, the request from Promotors, Record Company A&R personal is " do you know of any competent "HAMMOND PLAYERS" NOT just Keyboard players but ... HAMMOND PLAYERS ! More on this in the December newsletter
Also, thank you to all who have visited my HamLab Studio recently and also many thanks to all the dealers who hosted the Hammond Roadshow at their stores. Edinburgh Organ Studios, Promenade Music of Morecombe, Haven Keyboards of Ipswich, Swift Music of Bristol and last but not least, Bonners of Eastbourne.
Most of all a BIG THANK YOU to all the people that came to see us at these events.
Both Barrrie and I enjoyed this very much indeed and we can only describe this last little tour as nothing less that a 'great success' meeting lots of old friends and making many new acquaintances.

POLAND GIG
In September I had the privilege of being invited to play a gig for the Polish Hammond Club.
This was a fantastic experience.. What a wonderful warm friendly and welcoming country Poland is and best of all .... they like their HAMMOND Playing HOT !!!!
Pawel and Monika ........ Perfect Tour Managers and Hosts
Many thanks especially to Monika and Pawel WIĘSIK who booked me for the gig (incredible gig promoters and hosts) and also special thanks to Andre and Arcadius who made me so welcome and looked after me like a VIP.
My band was formed by Polish Musicians and Pawel assured me he would get the best available..... Boy .. Wow did he deliver !!!!!! some of the best musicians I have ever had the privilege to work with.
So here is a BIG, BIG THANKS to the band:
Radosław Bolewski - Drums ... Piotr Świerzbiński - Guitar ...
Jan Cichy - Bass ... Kuba Raczyński - Sax
Now this will make some of you smile .. Pawel asked me what equipment I preferred for the gig. I asked for a new Hammond B-3 and Leslie 122 (nice ..)
What I actually got was a new B-3 and 4 YES FOUR LESLIE'S 2 x 145's, 1 x 122 and a 760 as my back-line monitor. How crazy is that ?? It was and unbelievable sound. Thanks Pawel.
The audience was fantastic and provided a great inspirational and enthusiastic vibe to play 'Cool Hammond' Grooves , and to all the members of that audience that have mailed me since the show.. Thanks allot for your support
At the end of the show I was very happy and proud to be made an Honorary Member of the 'POLISH HAMMOND CLUB' and received a special leather bound brass plaque from them.
I hope to return to Poland next year for a longer tour and maybe even record with the guys. Thanks again to all involved ... Malc
FINLAND GIG
At the end of October, I was invited to go and support the Hammond Finland Distributer at the HELSINKI MUSIC SHOW.
Its amazing how the sound of the New B-3 and Leslie 122 will draw crowds ... That sound is just a universal magnet to music lovers and I never tire of this kind of event.
Heikki (the Hammond Distributor) is a very 'cool character' and not only did we have a great show and lots of fun he also was kind enough to invite me to his home for a traditional Finish Sauna, fine food, great liquor & beer and to meet his wonderful family and excellent hosts Marja and Topi. Thanks ..... I will be back soon (-:

TECH MUSIC SCHOOLS Opens New Hammond Keyboard Lab
I formed ‘Hammond Player’ as our UK music tuition and product knowledge umbrella operation and the Hammond Player DVD has helped to introduce basic Hammond performance styles to many aspiring performers.
More recently ‘Hammond Lab’ has been introduced as the format for where such educational activities can take place and already this is proving a most beneficial resource to our Hammond Centre UK retail activity.
In order to develop our education program further I have been trying to devise a new, structured tuition system which can be tailored to the needs of the modern Hammond player and most importantly utilised as a pre and after sales service to our customers.
I am therefore extremely pleased to announce that Hammond Organ UK have been working closely with the London based ‘Tech Music’ group to produce not only an exciting new approach to Hammond tuition but also to create the very first main contemporary Hammond education centre in the country.
We are obviously extremely pleased with this development and would encourage as many prospective Hammond players as possible to contact Keyboard Tech for further information on their education program fro Hammond.
Regards ..... Barrie
On Saturday 28th November Hammond rock legend Jon Lord will officially open Keyboard Tech ‘s brand new and specially structured Hammond Lab at their Acton based tuition centre.

King of the keys Jon Lord is set to cut the ribbon and officially open the new Hammond Keyboard Lab at Tech Music Schools on 28th November 2009. Joining him will be renowned Hammond player James Taylor. The day will start off with some amazing performances from a selection of Tech Music School tutors, followed by a master class and the official opening of the lab in the afternoon.
Tech Music Schools are delighted to be teaming up with Hammond to introduce the jazz/rock legacy of keyboards to the school. Not only will students be in ore of the brand new lab fully equipped with 12 high end work stations, they will also be able to take their learning potential to the max by taking part in extra private lessons throughout the year if they wish to advance their technique on this legendary instrument.
Having gone through a complete make over during the summer, the schools have extended their high end educational facilities by adding a 4th building to the establishment. This houses the brand new Hammond Keyboard Lab featuring 6 x XK1 drawbar keyboards, XK3c drawbar keyboard, XK pro system 2 manual organ and a Leslie 2101 speaker system.
Jon Lord, best known for his time spent playing with the 70’s Progressive Rock band Deep Purple is supporting the schools in their decision to teach specialised modules in Hammond organ. The 1 Year Diploma, 1 Year Cert HE and 3 Year BMus Degree students will take part in learning this amazing instrument, there will also be a specially devised part time course and private lessons available purely for the Hammond Keyboard.
As well as opening the doors of the lab, Jon will be taking the time to meet potential and existing students as well as signing memorabilia following the opening. Tech Music Schools are honoured to have such influential figures present for the opening of the all new premises.
